What is the European Health Insurance Card?
It is a free card that gives the state the right to health care in cases of temporary stay in one of the 28 EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, under the same conditions and at the same cost (free in some countries) of the clients of the country where you are located.
The cards are issued by ' insurance institution of the country of residence .
Important. The European Health Insurance Card:
- It is not an alternative travel insurance . It does not cover private health care or costs such as those of the flight back to their country of origin or relating to lost or stolen property;
- It does not cover the costs if you are traveling for the sole purpose ofobtaining medical treatment ;
- It does not guarantee free services . The health systems of the various countries are different: some services that are free in their own country may not be so in another state.
Warning : If you moved the habitual residence in another country, you must use theS1 form instead of the TEAM card to receive medical care in the new country of habitual residence.
