Syria: Obama sends a group of special forces to combat Isis

It is also envisaged the deployment of ground-attack aircraft and 10 fighter F 15 in the Turkish base of  Incirlik

WASHINGTON - The White House proceeds with the plan developed in these days. A core of special forces - about 60 men - will be sent in northern Syria to help the coalition of Kurdish YPG and local rebels. This will also include the deployment of ground-attack planes 10 (already arrived) and F-15 fighters in the Turkish base of Incirlik. Aircraft that will pave the way for a possible offensive against the stronghold of the Isis in Raqqa.

Councillors

The Obama administration states that the soldiers will have the role of advisers and trainers, but it is clear that the presence of the elite units will go over. It 'very likely that the military will be much closer to the line of fire to guide ground raids hunting and facilitate the movements of insurgents. The official position, however, is not participating in the fighting. At least formally. Moreover, one must point out that small groups of Special Forces act as time in that corner of Syria. So obviously "covered". Many reports have confirmed the presence and more than one occasion. Not to mention, then, that the Pentagon has conducted at least three raids elitrasportate always in and therefore the Americans have put "boots on the ground."

Doubts

There are plenty of doubts about the tightness of the coalition Kurdish rebels. It 'a marriage of convenience made precarious by different goals and visions. A Kobanî worked, but the relationship is always difficult. The Arabs do not fidono dell'YPG (accused of never having broken with Assad) and vice versa. Recently, after the United States has parachuted 50 tons of weapons were created controversy: the rebels have accused the partners to be taken possession of the entire load. The Americans will have to act as a bridge to avoid the problems that arise had with other insurgent formations. Usual will be the field to decide and not the intentions. One point deserves Turkey. Ankara is hostile all'YPG, does not want the guerrillas expand west of the Euphrates, but seems to accept their commitment to anti Isis Raqqa. And the very fact that the fighters USA will operate from Incirlik is a signal. In the background an increasingly precarious, unstable, which is complicated to put together components with different interests.
